Partners receive funding from NMBCA for shorebird conservation

In May 2009, several partners were awarded funding from the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act grants program, facilitated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in support of shorebird-specific conservation projects (see below).

Central Wisconsin Grassland Conservation Area – Acquisition. USA.
Directly benefits Upland Sandpiper.

The Migratory Connectivity of Hudsonian Godwits. USA/Canada/Chile.

Directly benefits Mountain Plover.

Strengthening the Value of Protected Areas Important to Shorebirds in Argentina.

Integrating Management, Science and Education for Migratory Bird Conservation in Iberá Natural Reserve. Argentina.

Directly benefits shorebirds at the Lagunas de ECUASAL WHSRN Site.
Partners: A total of 10, including grantee Aves & Conservación.

Grassland Protection and Restoration in the Mapimí Biosphere Reserve, Coahuila. Mexico.
Directly benefits Long-billed Curlew.
Partners: Pronatura Noreste A.C., National Forestry Commission, Autonomous University of  Nuevo Leon, and National Commission on Protected Natural Areas.

Pride Campaign for the Conservation of Migratory Birds. Paraguay.
Directly benefits Buff-breasted Sandpiper and other shorebirds at the Bahia de Asunción WHSRN Site.
Partners: Guyra Paraguay and Millennium Foundation.

 

Several more grassland bird conservation projects were funded that will also benefit various shorebirds.
