The WHSRN Executive Office, a program of Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, congratulates and welcomes our colleague Dr. John Hagan as Manomet’s new President, beginning 1 October. A senior scientist at Manomet for the last 22 years, John has been a leader in Neotropical migratory landbird research and conservation, particularly in relationship to forested habitats. His initiatives at Manomet have forged new paths and partnerships in the fields of sustainable timber harvesting, forest biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration/offsets, and most recently valuation of landscapes’ “natural capital.” John will serve as Manomet’s representative on the WHSRN Hemispheric Council.

In welcoming John we also honor and thank our past President, Linda Leddy, for her 25 years of service and leadership to Manomet. In that time, the original Manomet Bird Observatory grew to be the internationally recognized, multi-faceted center for conservation sciences that it is today. Linda will take her knowledge and experience to the Board of Trustees as Vice-Chair for Institutional Advancement. We wish Linda and John all the best, and look forward to building upon our legacy of science-based conservation together.
